The VHC74 is an advanced high-speed CMOS dual D-type flip-flop manufactured in a silicon gate CMOS process. It enables high speed operation similar to equivalent bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining low CMOS power consumption. The signal level applied to the D input is transferred to the Q output during forward conversion of the CK pulse, and CLR# and PR# are independent of CK by setting the corresponding input low level. The input protection circuitry ensures that 0V to 7V is applied to the input pins regardless of the supply voltage. This device can be used to interface a 5V system with a 3V system and two power systems, such as a backup battery. This circuit prevents damage to the device due to mismatched supply and input voltages.
