The Texas Instruments UCD7242RSJT is a high-performance System Basis Chip (SBC) particularly designed for powering and protecting vehicles using a 12V architecture. The device integrates several functional blocks, such as a high- side-controlled driver, step-down controller, buck converter and intelligent protection monitor, which enable it to drive and protect different automotive applications. The device is capable of providing up to 7 A peak output current and its adjustable switching frequency of up to 500 kHz enables it to generate higher efficiency at full load. The device features current and power monitoring capabilities to enable monitoring of multiple power domains and it also offers short circuit and over-current protection, temperature monitoring, and over-voltage and under-voltage protection. Additionally, the integrated ESD protection ensures low system risk of electrostatic discharge events. The UCD7242RSJT is packaged in a small-footprint 7 mm x 5.9 mm TQFP-48 package and is particularly suitable for demanding automotive applications.
