The Texas Instruments TPS2421-1DDA Hot Swap Controller is an ideal solution for a wide range of applications. Utilizing a general purpose latched fault, thermal limit, and an Under Voltage Lock Out (UVLO) feature, the Controller provides reliable protection against over current and thermal damage to electrical components. The TPS2421-1DDA operates in extreme conditions ranging from -40°C to 125°C, and is packaged in a space-saving 8-pin PowerPad configuration. The Hot Swap Controller enables system circuit boards and powerbus management during turn-on, turn-off operations, and monitor the powerbus voltage during the hot-swap operation. The Controller also guarantees an accurate power-on or power-off ramp rate when controlling large voltage drops, thus avoiding damaging inrush currents and reducing undue stress to system circuitry. In addition, the IC provides an on-chip power-good signal whenever a device or powerbus is up and running. The signal helps identify over-current, under-voltage and over-current conditions that could otherwise cause serious damage to equipment and components. The TPS2421-1DDA also features an adjustable over-current threshold and latch time delay, allowing users to configure the protection they need, while supporting a wide range of current ratings. The Texas Instruments TPS2421-1DDA Hot Swap controller is an ideal solution for ensuring that delicate electronic components are protected from damage due to thermal and over-current conditions. It is packaged in an ultra-small 8-pin PowerPad configuration and operates in extreme conditions ranging from -40°C to 125°C.
